America’s Best RV Cookbook: The Complete Guide to RV Cooking: The Complete Guide to RV Cooking, by Joyce Ryan

Be a gourmet cook on the road while using only a few ingredients plus spices! Joyce Ryan’s cookbook is loaded with interesting recipes, 381 to be exact. The recipe for each main dish also suggests complimentary dishes to turn it into a meal.

With restricted space for working and food storage, an RV presents challenges to many cooks. While RVers sometimes resort to using the oven for storage and patronizing restaurants, those restaurant meals get old (and fattening). Joyce’s goal with this cookbook was "delicious no-fuss food without sacrificing flavor for convenience." For example, she turns roast turkey into Santa Fe Roast Turkey by mixing and rubbing in 5 spices and adding an easily-made condiment. To complete the meal she suggests the addition of Southwestern Succotash, Santa Fe Rice, and New Mexican Corn Bread.

The chapter "Supplies and Equipment" gives a full list of both supplies and equipment plus tips on cooking with an RV oven and ways to make life easier in the cooking department. "Substitutions and Equivalents" has many good tips and a list of recipes to fall back on when a grocery store in a remote location does not carry needed products. "Common Problems" helps the RVer deal with things like altitude, dryness or humidity. "Resources" includes both cooking and camping books and Web sites. These chapters plus excellent recipes combine to make America’s Best RV Cookbook a welcome addition to your kitchen.
